VirtualCloset Privacy Policy Effective Date: December 15, 2025

VirtualCloset is a digital wardrobe organizer that lets you store clothing photos, build outfits, and view weather-aware suggestions. This policy reflects how the live application operates today and is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679.

1. Information We Collect We only collect what is necessary to run the service.

Account Data - Email address (for authentication and account management via Supabase Auth). Legal basis: Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

User Content - Clothing images you upload. - Metadata you add or edit, such as category, brand, color, material, purchase price, wear count, wishlist/suitcase flags, tags, and outfit/calendar associations. Legal basis: Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Location Data (Not Stored) - When you allow it, we read your device location in the browser to fetch current weather from Open-Meteo. Coordinates are sent only to that API request and are not stored by us. Legal basis: Consent (device-level) (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

2. How We Use the Information - Operate the wardrobe: store images and metadata, let you build outfits, and save calendar logs. - Background removal: images may be processed by our background-removal job (run via Trigger.dev calling a third-party ML API, e.g., Hugging Face Inference) to generate transparent PNGs. - Weather widget: fetch current weather based on your temporary, non-stored location. - Insights: compute on-the-fly stats like cost-per-wear, category breakdowns, and outfit potential.

3. Third-Party Service Providers (Sub-processors) - Supabase: Authentication, Postgres database, and Storage for your wardrobe items and metadata. - Vercel: Hosts the web application. - Trigger.dev: Orchestrates background-removal jobs. - Hugging Face Inference (via Trigger.dev job): Processes images to remove backgrounds. - Open-Meteo: Provides weather data; receives only your coordinates for the request. We do not use analytics or payment processors, and we do not collect phone numbers.

4. Data Retention & Your Rights - Retention: We keep your account data and user content while your account is active. - Rights (GDPR): Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction, Portability, and Objection. You can edit item metadata in-app; for account deletion or broader requests, contact us.
